KICKS wins award for best script in Cairo

The Dutch feature film KICKS from director Albert ter Heerdt has won the prize for best scenario on the renowned Cairo International Film Festival. The jury, under chairmanship of the famous English cineast Nicholas Roeg, defined KICKS as "cleverly structured, covering some of the most difficult, delicate and painful situations and it does it with wit and compassion and happy surprises - A very clever piece of work."

Earlier, KICKS won the award for Best Music, at the Dutch Film Festival 2007. The film was also nominated in the categories Best Scenario and Best Female Supporting Act. At the moment KICKS travels around the world and is successful at many different foreign festivals.

In 2004, Ter Heerdt had success with his debut SHOUF SHOUF HABIBI. This film won many awards in the Netherlands and in foreign country’s.

KICKS is produced by Hector, Fu Works and Parnassus Film, and is a co production with VARA. KICKS is a project within the framework of Telescoop. Independent Films was the distributor for KICKS and brought the film in the Dutch cinema’s.
